Aaryan’s fallout with Karan Johar on the sets of Dostana 2 is widely known. In a new interview with Pinkvilla, the actor was mentioned by the filmmaker, stating that he is not given up on and a future collaboration is desired.
A film was nearly executed, but for various reasons, it couldn’t be realized. However, the idea of a possible collaboration is not ruled out. A strong potential exists for both parties in the future. The status of Dostana is uncertain, but it may become a defining moment for both,” expressed Karan in the interview.
Kartik was enlisted by Karan as one of the leads in Dostana 2, the sequel to Tarun Mansukhani’s 2008 romantic comedy hit, Dostana. The sequel, directed by Collin D’Cunha, also featured Janhvi Kapoor and a newcomer, Lakshya.
Due to issues arising from the actor’s behavior on the film set, Kartik was let go. A statement was issued by Dharma Productions, in which it was announced that, with respect to privacy, the project was halted and would be recast and refilmed later. The reasons behind the shelving of Dostana 2 have not been disclosed by Kartik, Janhvi, and others.
Since that time, encounters between Karan and Kartik have occurred at public events, with both remaining cordial. They even attended the inauguration of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne together this year, with Karan expressing positive sentiments about the actor, saying, “Kartik’s films have resonated deeply with the country and have consistently generated enthusiasm for cinema halls. May his contributions to cinema always persist. Bravo, Kartik.”
Karan recently marked the 25th anniversary of his directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, while Kartik is currently occupied with the filming of Kabir Khan’s sports drama, Chandu Champion.
