Kalki 2898 AD released on June 27, 2024 has turned out to be one of the major hits this year. The movie starring Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan received a fantastic response from the critics and earned more than Rs. 1,000 crore at the worldwide box office. The audiences were completely fascinated by the number of performances and how director Nag Ashwin effortlessly combined science fiction with Hindi mythology in a dystopian future.
Now, sister-in-law of Nag Ashwin and producer of Kalki 2898 AD, Swapna Dutt commented on controversial statement made by actor Arshad Warsi regarding Prabhas, in a conversation with News18. She was all praise for how Nag Ashwin handled it and shared that they kept their calm because the film had already proved its worth. The producer felt that Prabhas was fantastic in the movie, as always, and was all praise for both Nag Ashwin and him being this calm. According to Swapna, Nag Ashwin had then tweeted that he would send toys for Arshad’s children and work harder for the sequel. The only thing that hurt him was his language, she said, reflecting the character of Nag Ashwin.
Earlier, in an interview, Arshad gave his judgment of the film. Going gaga, the Jolly LLB star seemed to be in a state of amazement with the role of Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama in the movie but wasn’t quite impressed with the look of Prabhas in the movie. He said the look of Baahubali actor Prabhas in the film is like a “joker”. The comments by Arshad led to a lot of criticism from not only Prabhas fans but also some actors from the South actors. Nag Ashwin who is the director of the film responded to the controversy via the social media platform X.
