The couple named their baby River, as a tribute to actor River Phoenix, late brother of the ‘Joker‘ actor. He had died in 1993, at the ripe age of 23, from a drug overdose.

Actors Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix had first met on the set of the 2013 film “Her” but became romantically involved when they reunited for the 2016 film “Mary Magdalene.” The lovely pair made their debut as a couple at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival where they were seen chatting and embracing warmly when Phoenix won the best actor award for his performance in “You Were Never Really Here.” The couple, who is notoriously private about their relationship, revealed their engagement in the year 2019 when US Weekly confirmed the news.
