Jayeshbhai Jordaar faces legal difficulties for a scene in its trailer

A PIL against the movie Jayeshbhai Jordaar starring Ranveer Singh is filed in the High court just days before releasing.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar is one of the highly anticipated films of 2022 starring Ranveer Singh and Arjun Reddy fame Shalini Pandey as the leading pair. The movie is all set for its release on the 13th of this month but is faced with a legal issue just days before release.

As per the reports in LiveLaw, a plea is filed against a scene in the trailer of the movie Jayeshbhai Jordaar. In the scene, ultrasound technology is utilized to determine the sex of the unborn baby. Prenatal sex determination was banned in India in 1994, hence is illegal. The Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was listed before the division bench headed by acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla.

Even though the movie is against female foeticide, according to the petitioner, the trailer of the movie advertises ultrasound technology for Prenatal sex determination. The petitioner ‘Youth Against Crime’ is an NGO and filed the PIL through Advocate Pawan Prakash Pathak. The petitioner stated, “The ultrasound clinic scene where the technology of ultrasound for sex selection is being advertised openly without censor and as per section 3, 3A, 3B, 4, 6 & 22 of the PC & PNDT Act, same is not allowed & hence the instant PIL.”

The Movie is a satire on the society and also stars Boman Irani in an important role.
