Instagram takes off Hindustani Bhau’s handle after lyricist Puneet Sharma and Kunal Kamra’s complaint

Bigg Boss 13 fame ‘Hindustani Bhau’ aka Vikas Fhatak has always been a part of buzz due to his controversial statements and videos where he is often seen taking a dig on celebrities. Recently Instagram has suspended his account which had around 3.4 million followers after an official complaint files by lyricist Puneet Sharma. Instagram users had reported one of the videos from Bhau’s account as abusive and marked it within hate speech or symbols. Puneet Sharma took it to his Facebook account to reveal that he had anonymously filed a complaint against him to Instagram.

On his Facebook post Sharma wrote, “Kal aur aaenge nagamon kee khilatee kaliyaan chunane vaale, mujhase behatar kahane vaale, tumase behatar sunane vaale.” Where netizens are seen to be happy with the decision made by Instagram to take the account down, on 18th August Comedian Kunal Kamra had also tweeted to Mumbai Police and Home Minister Anil Deshmukh to take the necessary actions to Bhau’s inappropriate videos. Kunal Kamra wrote, “HM @AnilDeshmukhNCP & @MumbaiPolice Calling for open violence is a crime. This is a mob building & hate spreading excercise. This is deeply alarming. Could lead to violence & an artist not getting due process. Remarks like “System side main” are an insult to our constitution.”

A lot of people on social media had been discussing the reasons how the action taken by Instagram is valid and about the ways in which Hindustani Bhau’s videos were ill-suited. Sharing the screenshots of the notification they received from Instagram about the account removal, a few netizens rejoiced and even made memes on the same which went viral throughout. Last year, Hindustani Bhau was seen to join Bigg Boss season 13 as a wild card contestant whereas recently he had also filed an FIR against Ekta Kapoor for producing a web-series which allegedly harmed the image of Indian Army.
