Ratan Jain, the producer of Hungama 2, has spoken out in support of actor Shilpa Shetty, whose husband, businessman Raj Kundra, was arrested earlier this month for alleged involvement in a porn racket. Ratan Jain and Shilpa Shetty previously collaborated on Dhadkan and Hathyar.
The producer stated in an interview that he is unsure of how much knowledge Shilpa had about her husband’s business and that as far as he knows the actress would not be involved in such operations.
In the interview with a leading daily he said, “As much as I know Shilpa, she will not do something like that at all. I can’t really say, how much did she really know about her husband’s business, but I don’t think she was involved in it. Any family person should not do this kind of work and jitna main Shilpa ko jaanta hoon woh aisa kaam nahi karegi (I am sure Shilpa will not get involved in anything like this). But, having said that, one has to leave it to agencies that are investigating the case,” via Hindustan Times.
For the unversed, Raj Kundra was arrested earlier this month in connection with a pornography ring and is currently being held in judicial custody. He is allegedly involved in the creation and distribution of pornographic content via the HotShots app. The 45-years-old businessman was charged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays), as well as relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. He was sentenced to 14 days in judicial custody on Tuesday.
