A biopic on Rabri Devi was planned to be shot with real names but the guidelines of Information & Broadcasting Ministry lead to renaming the names of the characters.
Huma Qureshi on playing Rani Bharti (initially, it was Rabri Devi, but was camouflaged to Rani Bharti), says, “It’s not often that you get to portray a character that lets you explore so many layers as a performer. Rani Bharti has been a delight to play. She starts off as someone whom we all know and relate to but what she goes onto become is someone few of us can aspire for. It has been a wonderful experience of working with such a talented cast and I can’t wait for my viewers to watch the series.”
Through the teaser, it seems that the Gangs of Wassepur actress has worked a lot on herself to portray the character of the woman politician from Bihar.
Actor Sohum Sah is playing Lalu Yadav in the web series. With Subhash Kapoor, it’s another project of Huma Qureshi after Jolly LLB.
