Like many heroines,Karishma Kapoor also rejected quite a few projects which got lapped up by other heroines. Here’s a list of five movies she rejected.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

One of Bollywood’s most successful money spinners,Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s Tina was a character which was offered to several actresses including Twinkle Khanna,Tabu,Raveena Tandon and Karishma Kapoor. All of them refused it,and Rani Mukherjee walked into Tina’s shoes. The rest,as they say,is history.

Ishq

Juhi Chawla’s role was originally offered to Karishma Kapoor, who turned it down. This movie was a super hit romantic comedy which starred Amir Khan,Ajay Devgan,Kajol and Juhi Chawla. This 1997 movie was the third highest grosser of the year and won best actor and actress Zee awards nominations for Amir Khan and Juhi Chawla.

Barsaat

Twinkle Khanna’s role in this movie was also first offered to Karishma Kapoor. The movie was offered to her by Shekhar Kapoor, the original director of the movie. However,Shekhar himself backed off from the movie after certain portions were shot, before Raj Kumar Santoshi was roped in to direct the movie. The movie turned out to be the launching pads for both Bobby Deol and Twinkle Khanna.Ths movie also turned out to be a superhit, being the fifth highest grossing film of 1995.

Judaai

Urmila Matondkar’s role in this movie was also offered to Karishma Kapoor first, but she turned it down, paving the way for Urmila to step in.The movie was directed by Raj Kanwar. It was also a run away hit starring Anil Kapoor,Sridevi and Urmila Matondkar in pivotal roles. Urmila was nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award as well as Zee Cine Awards Best Supporting Actress for this role.

Yeh Raaste hai Pyaar ke

Deepak Shivdasani, this movie’s director, had originally planned Preity Zinta’s role with Karishma Kapoor in mind, perhaps hoping to encash on their Dil To Paagal Hai popularity wave.Preity was penciled in after Karishma refused the role. This movie also starred Ajay Devgan. This love triangle was an average hit at the box office.

Karishma Kapoor has no doubt acted in big blockbusters during her peak, but apart from Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar Ke,perhaps her doing the other films she has refused would have added more laurels to her career.
