Hansal Mehta on Raj Kundra’s arrest: Leave Shilpa Shetty alone, let the law decide

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta defended actress Shilpa Shetty amid her husband, Raj Kundra’s arrest in a pornography case. He said, ‘Allow her some dignity and privacy.’

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta showed his support towards actress Shilpa Shetty amid her husband, Raj Kundra’s arrest. He took to his Twitter handle and asked everyone to leave her alone and let the law decide.

Shilpa’s husband Raj Kundra was arrested by Mumbai police in a pornography-related case. Since then, the actress has been facing severe trolling and hate comments via social media. A fine charged by SEBI for disclosure lapses and rejected bail plea for Raj Kundra has added to her problems.

Hansal Mehta wrote in his tweet, “If you cannot stand up for her at least leave Shilpa Shetty alone and let the law decide? Allow her some dignity and privacy. It is unfortunate that people in public life ultimately are left to fend for themselves and are proclaimed guilty even before justice is meted out.”

He also wrote, “This silence is a pattern. In good times everybody parties together. In bad times there is deafening silence. There is isolation. No matter what the ultimate truth the damage is already done.”

Hansal added, “This vilification is a pattern. If the allegations are against a film person there is a rush to invade privacy, to pass sweeping judgment, to character-assassinate, to fill ‘news’ with trashy gossip – all at the cost of individuals and their dignity. This is the cost of silence.”

Mumbai Crime Branch has alleged that businessman Raj Kundra has earned Rs 1.17 crore between August and December in the last year through uploading pornographic content on an app named Hotshots.
