The funeral was attended by Bollywood stalwarts, including Aamir Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ashutosh Gowarikar, and Manoj Joshi, who gathered to pay their last respects to the late artist at his own studio. A recent video surfaced showing Aamir Khan offering flowers during the last rites of Nitin Desai.
The sorrowful event saw the presence of several Marathi film celebrities and politicians, who thronged the studio to bid a final farewell to the National Award-winning art director. The grief was palpable as the family of Nitin Desai, including his children, Siddhant and Mansi, were seen visibly emotional while bidding their beloved father a tearful goodbye.
Earlier that day, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also paid their respects to the late artist at JJ Hospital in Mumbai. The news of Nitin Desai’s demise had sent shockwaves across the film fraternity and fans alike.
Authorities had initially reported Nitin Desai’s death as a suspected case of suicide, highlighting the burden of debt he was facing. The postmortem was conducted by a team of four doctors on Wednesday, shedding further light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Nitin Chandrakant Desai had an illustrious career, collaborating with some of the most prominent filmmakers in the industry. His artistic contributions enriched numerous iconic movies, and his work was recognized and celebrated globally.
