Director Milan Luthria reveals Kangana Ranaut was called ‘chameleon’ on the sets of Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai

Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, which starred Ajay Devgn and Kangana Ranaut in the lead roles is soon going to celebrate its 10 year anniversary on 30 July, 2020. On the occasion, director Milan Luthria revealed that Kangana Ranaut designed her own look for the film.

The much loved film was set up in the backdrop of 1993 Mumbai ruled by mafia. The film starred Ajay as Rehana Shergill, Sultan Mirza and Kangana Ranaut as his love. It also starred Emraan Hashmi and Prachi Desai in pivotal roles. It is one of the much loved classics directed by Milan Luthria. Kangana’s work in the film as Rehana won her a lot of praise.

Director Milan Luhtria, in a recent interview with Pinkvilla, revealed that it was Kangana herself who created Rehana’s look in Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai. Filmmaker Milan Luhtria mentioned that the actress did her own hair and makeup for her character ‘Rehana’. Kangana played the role of a popular Bollywood actress who falls in love with mafia don, Sultan aka Ajay Devgn in the movie. The director further revealed that Kangana was referred to as a ‘chameleon’ on the sets of the film because she was able to transform into any character so easily.

Elaborating on the idea for Kangana’s look, Milan Luthria shares, ‘Kangana Ranaut designed most of her looks herself, right down to makeup, hair, and accessories. I had given her the nickname ‘chameleon’ for her ability to adapt to any look and transform it on screen.”

The film’s music, which was produced by Pritam, was loved and songs like Tum Jo Aaye and Pee Loon were hits of the year. The film was produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor and was written by Rajat Arora.
