Dawood Ibrahim extended monetary help to me- Rishi Kapoor in his autobiography ‘Khullam Khulla’   

Gangster Dawood Ibrahim is a transitory figure in the underworld. He is known as the reason behind the 1993 Mumbai bombings, that killed more than 250 people and many injured. In Rishi Kapoor’s autobiography Khullam Khulla, he disclosed having close ties with the Don.

The late actor stated in his book that Bhai (Dawood) had called him and his friends for tea at his Dubai house. The contact happened through a stranger when the actor was at a concert. Rishi Kapoor has played the role of a character inspired by Dawood in the film D-Day. He was curious about Don’s real-life story and decided to visit him.

During their meeting, Dawood asked Rishi Kapoor if he needed any monetary support,  he could ask for help. However, Rishi Kapoor denied the offer. Later on, both of them coincidentally met at a store in UAE. Dawood has also sent an aide during Raj Kapoor’s funeral.

This revelations also showcase the infamous connection of the underworld with the entertainment industry. Despite the ruthless bombings that followed, Rishi Kapoor stated that he didn’t regret meeting Dawood.

Rishi Kapoor has faced immense criticism for his statement and in an interview with India Today, he justified his stance. The actor said, “He invited me over for tea. I went to his house, thinking there was nothing wrong because he is just a fugitive; he had not done the menace.”

His statement has been a topic of debate questioning the ethical implications of how the actors shape the society. Also, if it is fair for the actors to have a connection with the underworld.
