
Art director Nitin Desai commits suicide at ND studio in Karjat
On Wednesday morning, renowned Indian art director Nitin Desai committed suicide.
According to accounts, he hanged himself at his own ND Studio in Karjat, which is 90 minutes by car from Mumbai.
Raigad Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge stated, “Desai’s body was found hanging with a rope in the morning at the ND Studio.”
Desai, incidentally, committed suicide on August 9, two days before his birthday. In a week, he would have turned 58.

Desai won the Best Art Direction National Award four times. He has received praise for creating opulent settings for popular films like “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam,” “Devdas,” “Jodha Akbar,” “Lagaan,” and “Bajirao Mastani,” among others.

Art director Nitin Desai commits suicide at ND studio in Karjat
Desai collaborated with a number of legendary directors during the course of his career, including Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and others.
He launched his ambitious ND Studios in 2005 in Karjat, a suburb of Mumbai. The studio, which is 52 acres in size, has hosted a number of movie sets, with “Jodha Akbar” being the most well-known.
ND Studios hosted not only films but also multiple seasons of the reality series “Bigg Boss.”
