Anushka Sharma gets notice from court for Paatal Lok violating Sikh sentiments

Anushka Sharma’s produced Paatal Lok has been a lockdown sensation on Amazon Prime Video. But the series has been seeing controversies one after another. In the latest, the actor received a notice from Punjab and Haryana High Court on a petition saying that the series has defamed the Sikh community a particular episode.

The petitioner has objected the third episode of the series that is set in a Punjab village and is titled, “A History of Violence”

The petitioner’s lawyer Gurdeepinder Singh Dhillon has said, “The respondents have purposely and maliciously within the intent of creating communal disharmony and caste-based clashes have shown two communities in a bad light.”

Previously a BJP MLA claimed his picture was transformed and used on the show without his consent. There have been some complaints also calling the show cattiest.

Paatal Lok released on Amazon Prime Video on May 15 and stars Neeraj Kabi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Banerjee, Ishwak Singh, and Gul Panag. It is Anushka Sharma’s debut OTT production and is the story of a disappointed cop who gets a chance to prove himself when he lands a murder case to solve.

The show is likely to be renewed for a second season. The Bollywood actress’s next OTT production will the horror film Bulbul on Netflix.
