Very few actors in Bollywood have seen stardom like Amitabh Bachchan. Even in his 70s, he has more followers than many young generation actors. Be it award shows, hosting KBC (Kaun Banega Crorepati), movies or on social media, he is everywhere. Not many superstars today can match his craze in the 70s and 80s where his presence in a film was the guarantee of a blockbuster. But initially, with his debut in 1969 with Saat Hindustani, he wasn’t successful. Movies like Zanjeer, Kaala Patthar and many others helped him achieve the love of the masses.
On Thursday, ‘Kaala Patthar completes 42 years of the journey since it was released in 1979. The movie became an instant hit and blasted the box office records at that time. Today ‘Kaala Patthar has attained a cult status and is regarded as one of the pioneers of Hindi Cinema. The film saw Amitabh as a navy officer who is forced to work in a Coal Field. The film was directed by Yash Chopra starring, Shatrughan Sinha, Prem Chopra, Shashi Kapoor and Rakhi.
Taking to Instagram Amitabh gets nostalgic about his film completing 42 years. He also shared few personal stories where he revealed working in the Coal Department in Calcutta for 7-8 years before taking acting as a career. His post was captioned, “42 years of KALA PATTHAR .. !!! phew !!!
