Ameesha Patel receives criticism for wearing a bold outfit in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha movie screening

A group of people criticised the actress for her choice of clothing, while others praised the 47-year-old for appearing beautiful for her age.

On Ameesha Patel’s birthday (June 9), the classic movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, was re-released. Patel attracted attention for his role as Sunny’s “Madamji” in the movie. Ameesha was cruelly ridiculed for donning a provocative attire, nevertheless, after their images from the Mumbai screening event went viral.

The primary character of the movie is Tara Singh (played by Sunny), an Amritsar-based Sikh truck driver who falls in love with Sakina (played by Ameesha), a Muslim girl from a Pakistani political family in Lahore.

Ameesha was spotted wearing a red strapless dress. A part of people criticised the actress for her choice of clothing, while others praised the 47-year-old for appearing beautiful for her age.

One user wrote, “Sakina has started getting intoxicated, her eyes have become black.”

“This sakina has become something terrible,” added another.

“Why does she look soo scary? Is it the makeup?” wrote one user.

When it was released in 2001, the romantic-action drama directed by Anil Sharma, set during the Partition of India, made box office history. The late Amrish Puri also had a major part in the movie. ‘Gadar’ is being re-released just as the cast is planning a sequel.

Anil Sharma is in charge. Utkarsh Sharma plays the lead character in Gadar 2 as well. In the first installment, Utkarsh portrayed Sunny and Ameesha’s son.

Sunny previously expressed excitement for the second installment, stating that “Gadar – Ek Prem Katha has been an eminent part of my life, personally as well as professionally. Tara Singh from Gadar isn’t just a protagonist but went on to become a cult icon that defied all odds and crossed all boundaries for his Family and Love. Collaborating with the team after, 22 years was a creatively enriching experience.”
