Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Brahmastra’ to go on a budget cut

The coronavirus crisis has left it’s effect on the film industry as well. One such effect can be seen in cost cutting for the production of movies.

Karan Johar’s most expensive said to be film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt is likely to have a huge budget cut. The question is, how much? According to Bollywood Hungams know, “Post the Coronavirus crisis and the image drubbing that Karan Johar has taken after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the most severely hit of the Dharma Productions would be Brahmastra because it was almost ready and also the most expensive Dharma film ever.”

Allegedly, director Ayan Mukerji has been asked to cut down on his vision for the rest of the shooting. He has also been asked to trim the film’s length to around two hours. “For the remaining shooting Ayan has been asked to reduce costs drastically. Budget for post-production would also be curtailed drastically. Also, the way Ayan has been shooting Brahmastra could turn into a 3-hour plus product after editing and post-production. Ayan has been told to edit the footage to a palatable 2-hour duration,” mentions the source to Bollywood Hungama.

Ayan and other competitor-epic directors will now have to work according to the changed times. The self-indulgence and the profligacy that was earlier seen as an privilege are no longer sustainable.
