Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and others come in support of Lakshadweep after Maldives Ministers’ derogatory remarks on PM Modi

Maldives stands out to be the most popular travel destination for Indians as well as celebrities. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Lakshadweep island, which was to promote it as a tourist destination. He took to his Instagram account and shared his experience from travelling the hidden treasure of India. The PM also tried snorkelling, which he stated was an exhilarating experience.

The post has been creating a huge buzz on the internet, as many Indians felt that it would make people travel to Maldives less frequently. Soon after that Maldives’s Deputy Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Mariyam Shiuna shared a post on her X account. She wrote, “What a clown. The puppet of Israel Mr Narendra diver with a life jacket #VisitMaldives”

The comment from Maldives’s official Minister created a controversy, which led to many Indians cancelling their tickets. The derogatory comment towards the PM of India and the country’s closest ally made many Indians upset. Maldives’s former President Mohamed Nasheed stated that the language used by the country’s officials towards the prominent leader was appalling.

Bollywood celebrities are seemingly promoting the cause, which was started by PM Modi. Akshay Kumar addressed the ongoing racist comments for India from the Maldives’ well-known personalities.
