After AR Rahman, Resul Pookutty revealed ‘Nobody gave me work in Hindi films after I won Oscar’

Recently, AR Rahman revealed the reason behind him doing fewer projects in the Bollywood than Tamil film industry. The singer was in the talks as he composed the music for Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film, Dil Bechara.

Veteran actor, Simi Garewal expressed shock over the revelation. She couldn’t understand why a globally renowned singer like him will have to face such things. She tweeted, “It’s contemptible & disgraceful that a globally renowned maestro @arrahmanis being shunned through a planned contentious campaign by Bollywood camps. What is going on here?? Am shocked..but then maybe I’m not..”

In one of the recent interviews with Radio Mirchi, AR Rahman disclosed a ‘gang’ is spreading false rumours about him. He further stated that casting director Mukesh Chhabra informed him that many people in the industry have asked him not to approach AR Rahman and have told him stories after stories.

AR Rahman said, “When Mukesh Chhabra came to me, I gave him four songs in two days. He told me, ‘Sir, how many people said don’t go, don’t go to him (AR Rahman) and they told me stories after stories.’ I heard that, and I realised, yeah okay, now I understand why I am doing less (work in Hindi films) and why the good movies are not coming to me. I am doing dark movies, because there is a whole gang working against me, without them knowing that they are doing harm.”

Meanwhile, sound designer Resul Pookutty reacted to Shekhar Kapur’s tweet and revealed that he almost had a breakdown as nobody in the industry gave him work in the Bollywood films after winning an Oscar.

Yesterday, Shekhar Kapur tweeted after AR Rahman’s revelation that it was because he was awarded an Oscar, that he stopped getting work in Bollywood. The tweet read, “You know what your problem is @arrahman? You went and got #Oscars . An Oscar is the kiss of death in Bollywood. It proves you have more talent than Bollywood can handle ..”

Replying to the above tweet Resul Pookutty wrote, “Dear @shekharkapurask me about it, I had gone through near breakdown as nobody was giving me work in Hindi films and regional cinema held me tight after I won the Oscar… There were production houses told me at my face ”we don’t need you” but still I love my industry, for it….”
