Aamir Khan and his ex-wife Kiran Rao worked together on Laapataa Ladies recently for which they have selected as India’s official entry for Oscars 2025. For the most part, the former couple have collaborated for every film they made under Aamir Khan Productions in the years since Kiran began her own production house, Kindling, which she established before helming Laapataa Ladies.
In an interview the writer-director said this after so many years of production she wants to experiment with Kindling, as to collaborate with other producers. This led to an interesting laugh out from Aamir Khan who referred to himself as ‘Ghar ki murgi’.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kiran quipped, “Of course, Aamir Khan, and Aamir Khan Productions, are out favourite people to work with. And we will come to Aamir Khan Productions or other producers to see where the energies lie because I want to do a whole bunch of different kinds of work with different directors as well… Honestly, I feel that different kind of energies yield fresh results. I do want to try and work with other studios.”
Aamir was quick to add, “Plus, when you will work with outside studios, you will know my real value. I am ghar ki murgi.” Kiran replied with a laugh, “So, we need a producer who doesn’t say, ‘I am the ghar ki murgi’.”
