Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case took a new turn once again as Bihar government moved to Supreme Court to oppose actress Rhea Chakraborty’s plea of transferring the FIR from Patna to Mumbai. The actress has moreover asked for the staying of investigation being conducted by the Patna Police.
Besides the Bihar government, the late actor’s family has also reached the SC to oppose the petition.
This news was confirmed by advocate general of the state government, Lalit Kishore, who in informed TOI that Bihar government has filed a Caveat in Supreme Court.
“Senior Supreme Court advocate Mukul Rohtagi would appear for Bihar government in case whenever it gets listed for hearing,” Kishore said.
He further stated, “We have moved the apex court on grounds that FIR had been registered correctly and state government has jurisdiction and power to investigate the case.”
Senior Supreme Court advocate Vikash Singh, who is representing Sushant’s family, was also asked to comment on the status. He told TOI that Rhea has herself asked for CBI investigation in Sushant’s case.
He pointed out, “When she doesn’t believe in Mumbai police’s investigation, then why now she wants to get the FIR transferred from Patna to Mumbai. Police in Mumbai had not even lodged an FIR in the case.”
It is to note that Sushant’s father KK Singh filed an FIR against the actress, her family and close associates in the Rajiv Nagar police station of Patna, for abetting the suicide of his son. The family had earlier complained that the Mumbai police is taking the investigation in another direction.
