On 5th August, Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case was handed over to the CBI by the Bihar Police. According to the reports, Gagandeep Gambhir, along with the senior IPS officer Manoj Shashidhar, will supervise the case which is being probed by a special investigation team under the superintendent of police Nupur Prasad.
The case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation agency by the Bihar government after Sushant’s father KK Singh and the Bihar police affirmed that Mumbai Police is covering up the case and trying to save someone.
On Thursday, CBI filed a case into Rajput’s death against his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty and four other members of her family.
Bihar’s Gagandeep Gambhir, who will be supervising the CBI investigation is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 2004 batch. According to Hindustan Times, Gagandeep has been a senior superintendent of police (SSP) in several districts in the western state. She has been posted in CBI for the last year and a half. She has also been a part of various teams probing many high-profile cases, including some big scams.
Her supervised investigations also include the probe into the alleged role of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in the illegal mining case, the Srijan scam and the case against journalist Upendra Rai. She also had the additional charge of DIG in the special investigation team headed by the Joint Director Sai Manohar.
