Stree 2 crosses Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal at Indian box office, running behind only Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan

The horror comedy film Stree featuring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurrana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi has become the second highest grossing Hindi film in India. According to the film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, now the total collection of Stree 2 at domestic box office is ₹583.35 crore nett after its fifth Monday in theatres. The latest film is a horror comedy that consists of the second part of the Stree released in 2018, the director is Amar Kaushik and script is written by Niren Bhatt.

Taran tweeted on Tuesday, “Stree 2 remains at [fifth] Friday levels, though the business saw an upswing that day, thanks to the BOGO (buy one get one) free ticket offer. The rock-steady Monday numbers suggest the film is on track to make HISTORY as the first Hindi film to surpass the ₹600 crore mark. [Week 5] Friday ₹3.60 cr (crore), Saturday ₹5.55 cr, Sunday ₹6.85 cr, Monday ₹3.17 cr. Total: ₹583.35 cr India business.”

Still, among all Hindi films, Shah Rukh Khan’s 2023 film Jawan is the highest grossing film in India. According to Sacnilk report, the total earning of the action film in India is ₹640.25 crore nett.

Stree 2 has now crossed the total collection of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. According to SACNILK, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movie did total business of ₹553.87 crore nett in India.
