In September, The Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty probing the drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. A month later, Rhea was granted bail by the Bombay High Court and she left the jail on 7th October. Showik was not granted bail yesterday.
Bombay High Court said, “At this stage, the NCB has sufficient material to show he is a part (of) drug dealers engaged in illicit traffic.” Justice Sarang Kotwal added, “He appears to be an important link in the chain of drug dealers,” as he rejected Showik’s bail plea. On the other hand, there were no such allegations against Rhea, who was granted bail yesterday.
As reported by Times of India, the HC said that “Showik was facilitating the procurement of drugs from one party for supplying them to SSR and was involved in the illicit trafficking of illegal trade of drugs. Showik is allegedly connected to co-accused Anuj Keshwani through Abdel Parihar, who was also not granted bail. The reason cited by the HC was considering the fact that Showik is a part of the large network and it is not possible to observe whether he will commit such offenses in the future or not.”
