A few weeks back, Bengali actress Payal Ghosh had made her way to the headlines as she accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual misconduct. The actress had stated that the filmmaker allegedly forced himself on her, and in one of her interviews she had also dragged the names of other actors like Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi and Mahie Gill. Now in the fresh, according to the reports of Mumbai Mirror, Richa Chadha has filed a lawsuit in the Bombay High Court against Payal Ghosh, Kamaal R Khan (KRK), and a news channel for their alleged defamatory statements against her.
As per the report in Mumbai Mirror, Richa Chadha has filed the defamation suit seeking Rs. 1.1 Crore in damages from them, and has also sought an order from the court for restraining those mentioned above, as well as unknown others from making any more defamatory statements. Not only this, but the actress has also sought withdrawal of the defamatory videos and tweets, with a public apology on Twitter and their websites. The hearing took place before Justice AK Menon in the Bombay High Court, but it was adjourned till 7th October, after the advocates for the accused did not appear before the Court.
The report mentions that the alleged defaming comments were first made by Payal Ghosh in an interview on 19th September. It is also alleged that Kamaal R Khan posted the video on his social media account and added vilifying tweets to it.
Meanwhile, Payal Ghosh had filed an FIR against Anurag Kashyap, after which the filmmaker was summoned by the Mumbai Police. He was quizzed by the Versova Police Station for almost 8 hours.
