Actor Payal Ghosh had accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual assault and had lodged an FIR against him. The FIR was registered on 21st September under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (I) (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty,), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 342 (wrongful confinement).
The director was called and interrogated for 8 hours at Versova Police Station on 1st October. His lawyer, Priyanka Khimani, issued a statement on 2nd October refuting the rape allegations. The actor then took to Twitter to react to the statement.
