As “Jailer” joined the Rs 300 crore club at the global box office, megastar Rajinikanth broke all box office records. The movie has caused havoc in theatres not just in India but all across the world, and the craze is undoubtedly reflected in the figures.

Rajinikanth is back on the big screen after a two-year absence with “Jailer.”

For his fans, the movie’s release was nothing short of a festival; yet, the superstar distanced himself and left for the Himalayas the day before “Jailer” opened in theatres.

According to reports, “Jailer” has made more than Rs 300 crore worldwide in just four days, with Rs 146 crore coming from just India.

Jailer is now the fourth Rajinikanth movie to gross more than Rs 300 crore.

The Rajinikanth-starrer “Jailer” seems unconcerned by the rivalry, despite facing severe competition from three other films: “Bholaa Shankar,” “OMG 2,” and “Gadar 2.” Despite the competition, “Jailer’s dream run” is still going strong.

The fact that the superstar decided to release his movie on August 10—a Thursday—instead of waiting until Friday to release it is one of the main factors in “Jailer’s” enormous box office success.

Before the release of “Jailer,” Rajinikanth fans could be seen going bonkers in adoration of the actor and his movie. All around the nation, enormous cutouts and posters of Rajinikanth were constructed, and they were showered in milk and flowers.

In many areas of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, theatres were packed to capacity, and lines formed outside the ticket booths as early as 6 am.

Theatres were decorated and firecrackers were set off by fans. They performed havans and pujas for the success of the movie while they danced to the sounds of dhol in the midst of the streets.
