The return of a time when all kinds of good films thrived and people weren’t as sceptical as they were in the past gives us hope for Indian cinema. We’ve seen a lot of unexpected box office successes over the last two years, which should make us all delighted.
The most recent addition is Crew, which is managing to stay aboard with continuous collections and earning significant money despite all the hoopla about all-female casts failing to attract crowds to theatres.
The film starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon began its journey towards Rs. 50 crores domestically and is now just a step away by the end of day 8. The film has witnessed a more than one crore increase in revenue from day 7, which is impressive because it will only get more mileage as we approach the weekend, and there is now no competition for the film.
Crew has been out for a week and has already grossed over Rs. 20 crore at the global box office. What was remarkable about it was that the local part was Rs. 9.25 crore and the rest was international, indicating that the film is receiving positive feedback from both groups.
Now, it appears that following a fall on the sixth and seventh days of its release, the flight has increased again, as the film resumed its typical collection on day eight.
According to Sacnilk, on the seventh day of release, Crew earned Rs. 3.60 crore in the domestic market. To give you an indication of the increase, the film grossed Rs. 2 crore on day seven. However, this increases the total domestic collection to Rs. 47.35 crore. This means that if the film maintains its Rs. 3 crore pace, it will reach the Rs. 50 crore milestone today.
