Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava continues its strong run in theatres during its second weekend. The historical drama, which is based on the life events of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the character played by Vicky, earned Rs. 40 crore on Sunday despite facing competition from India vs Pakistan cricket match.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s box office collection on Day 10 stood at Rs. 40 crore (early estimates). It witnessed a strong footfall during the morning (52.19 per cent), afternoon (61.46 per cent), and evening shows (61.86 per cent). However, the occupancy declined for shows at night (43.02 per cent) as audiences tuned in for India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy match. The overall occupancy for Hindi shows were Rs. 54.63 per cent.
The movie entered its second week on a solid note, collecting Rs. 223.5 crore on Friday, followed by Rs. 44 crore on Saturday, and around Rs. 40 crore on Sunday. This took Chhaava’s total collection to Rs. 107.5 crore for the second weekend.
After successfully running for 10 days in theatres, Laxman Utekar’s directorial has amassed a total of Rs. 326.75 crore in India, making it the the career-best film of Vicky, surpassing his previous highest grossing film – Uri: The Surgical Strike.
Looking ahead, Chhaava is expected to enter the Rs. 400 crore club soon. With the Mahashivratri holiday on Wednesday, the film’s collections are likely to receive another boost.
