Since its initial release in 2015, the fast-paced action and thrilling transformations that the Saiyan warriors display have drawn more fans worldwide than any other anime franchise. Following its original run after completing the Tournament of Power arc in 2018, Dragon Ball Super has received a resurgence of interest following the 40th Anniversary celebrations. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, a newly enhanced remastered version of the series, will be launched in the Fall of 2026, start with the Battle of Gods saga, and lead into the actual continuation of the story: Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol (which will adapt the exciting Moro arc from the manga). Production is ongoing for The Galactic Patrol, which is expected to be released sometime in late 2027, including even greater cosmic threats, mastering of Ultra Instinct, and Vegeta’s the continued evolution following the successes experienced in the recent movies and specials.

Dragon Ball Super Anime Release Date Updates

1)Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is a reimagining of Dragon Ball Super’s initial story arcs as an enhanced remastered/partially rewritten TV Series. The series starts with the Battle of Gods where Beerus was introduced.

As far we know these are some updates that has surfaced online:

Date of the series premiere will be on Fall 2026 (Japan)

Television Network: Likely Fuji Television

There will be improve animation, improve sound design, improve pacing and improve alignment with Akira Toriyama’s original artistic vision.

2) Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol, is the official continuation of anime that has been produced with the material previously shown only in manga. It is confirmed to be in productions beginning in January 2026. The story will follow the events of the “Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc.” (Moro Arc), It is estimated to be released (to be dates later in the year 2027).

Indications suggest that since this project is still under-development, there will be a longer period of time assigned to complete it; indicating that this will be the first full anime extension (sequel) from the Dragon Ball franchise since 2018.

However important, rather than continuing to produce the franchise as traditional “Season 2” exemplified, they are allowed to produce new geographical and chronological based on individual titles and thus, moving forward NO LONGER producing a single complete season sequentially.

Dragon Ball Super Expected Cast

Continuity with the established voice cast will be preserved for the returning projects:

Masako Nozawa – Goku, Gohan & Goten

Koichi Yamadera – Beerus

Ryo Horikawa – Vegeta

Takeshi Kusao – Trunks

No major cast changes have been announced at this time. As Toei Animation has always worked hard to ensure they have every actor continue to do voice work for them over the years, it is expected that there will be additional returning actors in these productions as well.

Dragon Ball Super Story

Originally, the Dragon Ball Super series ran from 2015-2018 with a total of 131 episodes. After the Tournament of Power arc concluded, fans began referring to an unofficial second season of the show; however, no officially branded ongoing continuation has been produced to date.

During the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event — a celebration of 40 years of the Dragon Ball franchise — in early 2026, it was finally revealed that there will not only be an ongoing serialized second season of DB Super but also two separate anime projects as part of an overall “revival strategy” for the entire Dragon Ball franchise.
