HDFC Bank to appoint Sashidhar Jagdishan as the Bank’s new CEO after Aditya Puri

The Reserve Bank Of India approved the name of Sashidhar Jagdishan’s to be appointed as the next CEO of HDFC Bank as confirmed by the news report of CNBC on Tuesday morning.

The RBI approved the HDFC Bank’s request of new CEO last night that is on Monday night said sourcesto CNBC.

He was the Bank’s top choice among the 3 candidates, Others were Kaizad Bharucha and Sunil Garg who were shortlisted for the post of Chief Executive Officer.

Aditya Puri is the current CEO of HDFC Bank and is about to step down from the post in the month of October as the tenure gets over with the Bank after which the Bank is supposed to appoint a new person on the chair for the next tenure. Puri had recently sold shares of the Bank worth Rs 843 Crore ahead of its stepping down as the CEO, He assumed this position back in 1994.

Sashidhar is associated with the Bank since 1996, He started as the Manager in the Finance function and is currently the Chief Financial Officer and additional director of the bank and ahead to be the CEO soon.

Jagdishan has a overall experience of 29 years, He completed his graduation in Science with specialization in Physics, A chartered accountant and has also completed Master’s degree in Economy of Money, Banking and Finance.
