The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a district-wise Nowcast Warning valid for the next two to three hours, cautioning about thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and moderate rainfall in select regions.
According to the IMD, orange warnings have been issued for East Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya, along with several districts in Maharashtra including Ahmednagar, Beed, Latur, Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Pune, Raigad, and Thane. The forecast indicates thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–60 kmph, coupled with moderate rainfall in the range of 5–15 mm per hour.
A colour-coded map released by the IMD highlights different regions under watch, alert, and warning categories, with orange signifying a higher degree of caution. Residents in the affected districts are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions against possible disruption due to strong winds and rainfall.
