Zee Entertainment Enterprises has initiated legal proceedings against Jiostar India Private Limited over copyright infringement issues. The commercial suit, filed in the Hon’ble Delhi High Court, alleges that Jiostar has been using Zee Entertainment‘s copyrighted sound recordings without authorisation after the expiration of their license agreement.
The dispute centres on Jiostar’s continued use of these recordings across its digital platforms and satellite channels. Zee Entertainment is seeking damages amounting to approximately ₹28.75 crore for the infringing instances identified before the filing of the suit. The company has indicated that this figure could rise if further infringements are discovered during the court proceedings.
The expected financial implications for Zee Entertainment hinge on the outcome of the lawsuit, as the company anticipates receiving compensation for the unauthorised use of its intellectual property.
