On February 21, Vedanta informed the Management Committee, DGH, and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of an Oil Discovery (called ‘Durga’) in their exploratory well WM-Basal DD Fan-1, which was drilled in OALP Block RJ-ONHP-2017/1 in Rajasthan’s Barmer district. The Management Committee’s consent was also requested.

The Organization received the Block in October 2018 as one of 41 Blocks allocated to it in the OALP-I round of bidding. The Company has a 100% participation stake in the block.

Durga-1 (formerly WM-Basal DD Fan-1) is the second well drilled at a depth of 2615m MDRT in Block RJ-ONHP-2017/1. This is the Company’s third hydrocarbon finding in the OALP portfolio. Four hydrocarbon zones were discovered during well drilling in the Late Paleocene to Early Eocene Dharvi Dungar (DD) deposit.
