Vascon Engineers Ltd. (VASCONEQ) has established a Centre of Excellence for Construction and Real Estate Innovation at the College of Engineering Pune (COEP), marking a new academic–industry collaboration in the infrastructure sector.
The facility, constructed within the COEP campus, spans 18,000 sq. ft. and will serve as a platform for research, testing, and deployment of emerging technologies in construction and real estate.
Part of the Centre will be developed in collaboration with CREDAI, while a state-of-the-art Plumbing Lab will be set up in association with the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA).
The Centre is designed to facilitate live technology demonstrations, pilot projects, research collaboration, academic–industry workshops, and knowledge exchange. It aims to bridge the gap between academic research and practical industry implementation by providing students and faculty with exposure to real-world applications.
The focus areas include sustainable and prefabricated building materials, robotics and modular systems, smart infrastructure, BIM and digital site tools, automation, analytics, and green building practices.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. R. Vasudevan, Founder & Chairman Emeritus, Vascon Engineers Ltd., said, “The Centre of Excellence at COEP reflects our long-standing association with the institution and our focus on building stronger linkages between industry and academia. Focusing on the latest technology in project execution. As construction practices evolve with greater use of technology and data, the Centre will serve as a shared space for learning, testing, and application.”
The inauguration coincides with the 50th anniversary of Mr. Vasudevan’s graduating batch from COEP Technological University.
