Two solar project agreements are signed between Tata Power Renewable and Maharashtra Discom

The 200 MW and 150 MW solar arrays are anticipated to be operational by the middle of 2025 and will produce a sizable amount of renewable energy each year.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a Tata Power subsidiary, inked two power purchase agreements (PPAs) on Wednesday to commission two solar power projects. The business said in a statement that these initiatives also signal an important milestone in the nation’s efforts to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and battle climate change, adding that these projects, which have a combined capacity of 200 MW and 150 MW, would be essential to achieving the state’s renewable energy targets.

The statement said, “The 200 MW and 150 MW solar systems are anticipated to be operational by mid-2025 and will provide significant amounts of clean energy annually while reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 4,28,800 tons and 3,11,200 tons annually, respectively.

TPREL will supply MSEDCL with clean, sustainable electricity as part of the agreement, making a substantial contribution to the state’s renewable energy goals. The remaining 596 MW of the 930 MW that TPREL has contracted with MSEDCL will be put into service within the next 12 to 18 months, leaving 334 MW for current supply. The entire installed capacity of TPREL’s renewable energy sources is 4,118 MW (solar – 3,136 MW & wind – 982 MW), with 3,665 MW still in various stages of implementation, including the current 350 MW. The total installed capacity of TPREL’s renewable energy sources is 7,783 MW.
