TVS Supply Chain Solutions has announced the establishment of a 40,000 sq. ft. warehousing facility at the Free Trade and Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) in Mannur Village, near Chennai. This initiative aims to strengthen Caterpillar’s global supply chain by enabling multi-country sourcing and supporting its manufacturing operations.
The strategically located facility along the Chennai–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor offers robust connectivity to major ports such as Chennai, Ennore, and Kamarajar, which handle nearly 20% of India’s container traffic. This development aligns with the ‘Make in India for the World’ initiative, positioning Caterpillar’s India operations as a resilient and scalable base within its global supply network.
With approximately 4,000 pallet positions, the new warehouse will help Caterpillar optimise lead times, reduce landed costs, and swiftly respond to global demand and supply needs. Ravi Viswanathan, Managing Director of TVS Supply Chain Solutions, highlighted the tailored solution’s role in enhancing supply chain resilience amid global trade volatility.
Ramesh Muthuraman, Director of Operations at Caterpillar India, noted that the FTWZ facility enhances sourcing flexibility, leveraging TVS SCS’s expertise in managing complex, multi-country supply chains. TVS SCS also manages Caterpillar’s external warehouse operations in Hosur and in-plant warehousing, further supporting the company’s manufacturing operations.
