United States President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he will meet Nvidia Corporation CEO Jensen Huang on Wednesday, marking a high-profile engagement during his ongoing Asia tour.
Speaking at a business leaders’ meeting in Tokyo, Trump praised Huang as an “amazing” and “brilliant” innovator, commending his leadership in driving technological progress and recent decisions to expand Nvidia’s investments in the United States.
The U.S. president also celebrated the creation of the Blackwell chip, jointly developed by Nvidia and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), highlighting it as the first chip wafer made in the U.S. under his administration’s technology and manufacturing policies.
Trump further reiterated that his administration’s tariff policy had successfully encouraged the reshoring of semiconductor production, helping the U.S. regain its foothold in advanced chip manufacturing.
“The United States is once again leading in critical chip production,” Trump said, adding that the country is now accelerating the buildout of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure to maintain its global technology dominance.
