Hyderabad, Apr 18: Jindal Stainless has supplied more than 300 metric tonnes (MT) of stainless steel for the construction of Dr B R Ambedkar’s 125-ft statue in Hyderabad.
The giant statue was unveiled on Dr Ambedkar’s birth anniversary against the backdrop of the new circular Secretariat Building Complex here by the Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) along with Mr Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson of Dr Ambedkar.
Jindal Stainless has supplied grade 304 hot-rolled stainless steel in a thickness range of 12 mm – 32 mm, the company said in a release here on Tuesday.
Stainless steel has been used in the armature structure of the statue.
On Twitter, Jindal Stainless Managing Director Mr Abhyuday Jindal, said, “We are honoured to be a part of this iconic project of the Telangana government. It is a symbol of pride for our country as we launch Dr Ambedkar’s statue, a visionary who was instrumental in scripting the Constitution of India.”
The statue has been built on a 50-feet high pedestal with a ground floor measuring 172 feet and a terrace.It will also have an ancillary building, a museum, and a gallery exhibiting important events during the lifetime of Dr Ambedkar.
The company has two stainless steel manufacturing complexes in India — in Hisar (Haryana ) and Jajpur ( Odisha), as well as an overseas manufacturing unit in Indonesia.
The Company’s product range includes stainless steel slabs, blooms, coils, plates, sheets, precision strips, blade steel, and coin blanks.
