Indigo comes up with ‘LEAP-1A’ engines for its aircraft; here’s all you need to know

Indigo has announced that it has chosen ‘LEAP-1A’ engines for its A320neo aircraft. CEO Ronojoy Dutta says that it will help the country with its economic growth and mobility of people.

  • Airline major Indigo promulgated, on Friday, that it has chosen CFM international ‘LEAP-1A’ engines in order to strengthen its fleet of 30 new Airbus family of aircraft. Also, its delivery will commence from 2023 onwards.

Well, the agreement also throws light on multiple requirements such as 620 new installed engines and associated spare engines. In addition to this, the agreement assures a long-term, multi-year service.

Although, in 2019, Indigo had selected LEAP-1A engines. While the airline is currently in operation with seven A320neo and 15 A321neo aircraft with LEAP-1A engines.

“This is a pivotal milestone that reflects our long-standing commitment to rapidly strengthen our network, both domestically, and internationally”, reported IBT quoting Ronojoy Dutta, CEO of Indigo.

In addition to this, Dutta also says that the expansion will assist India to boost up its economic growth and mobility of its people, as quoted by IBT.
