The Indian Navy and BEML Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the indigenisation of marine equipment and systems. The agreement was formalized on August 20, 2024, at the Naval Headquarters in New Delhi.

Key Points of the MoU:

Date of Signing: August 20, 2024
Signatories: Rear Admiral K Srinivas, ACOM(D&R), Indian Navy and Shri Ajit Kumar Srivastav, Director of Defence, BEML Ltd.
Objective: Enhance cooperation for the indigenous design, development, manufacture, testing, and support of critical marine engineering equipment and systems.

The partnership supports the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative by advancing self-reliance in defense production. It aims to reduce dependence on foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and strengthen domestic capabilities in marine engineering.
