The Indian Navy and BEML Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the indigenisation of marine equipment and systems. The agreement was formalized on August 20, 2024, at the Naval Headquarters in New Delhi.

The partnership supports the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative by advancing self-reliance in defense production. It aims to reduce dependence on foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and strengthen domestic capabilities in marine engineering.
