HDFC Bank to stop SMS alerts for UPI transactions below Rs 100 starting June 25

Starting June 25, HDFC Bank will no longer send SMS alerts for UPI transactions up to Rs 100. SMS notifications will now only be sent for transactions above Rs 100 (for money sent/paid) and above Rs 500 (for money received). The bank informed its customers about this change through emails and advised them to keep their email addresses updated to ensure they receive all notifications.

The bank did not specify why it is discontinuing SMS alerts for transactions below Rs 100. However, this change comes as digital payments in India are reaching new heights, with more people adopting internet-based transaction methods. The UPI payment system has become extremely popular for retail digital payments in India, with its usage increasing rapidly.
