In December 2019, Genius Media Group filed a lawsuit against tech-giant Google for scraping lyrics off of their website.

What this means is that Google used the lyrics that were already published by Genius Media and put them on their Search Engine. Therefore, every time someone Googled “End-Game Lyrics (for the song End-Game by Taylor Swift), instead of taking the user to the Genius Media website, they would get the lyrics directly on google.

Federal Judge Margo Brodie, in the Eastern District of New York, on this case dismissed the accusation saying that the lawsuit does not hold water given that Genius Media is not the original holder of the copyright on these lyrics.
