In a major boost for the eco-conscious e-commerce sector, Mumbai-based Meolaa has successfully raised $2 million in a seed funding round led by Turbostart.
The purpose-driven platform, founded in 2022 by Ishita Sawant, plans to utilize the funds for team expansion and bolstering its operations in India.Meolaa distinguishes itself by focusing exclusively on sustainability, offering a diverse range of products in beauty, home improvement, baby care, apparel, and more especially for genz ,the company aims to intensify its presence in the Indian market by hiring talent and optimizing operations. This funding round follows a successful pre-seed funding round in the previous year, where Meolaa raised $165K(1.37 cr) from a group of notable investors including Dale Vaz (Swiggy), Nikhil Vore (Sixth Sense Ventures), Sachin Bhartiya (Lighthouse Funds), and StrongHer Ventures. The startup boasts an impressive portfolio, having onboarded 750 brands, with over 1500 brands in its repertoire. Since its launch in January 2023, Meolaa claims to have achieved remarkable growth, reporting a staggering 100% month-over-month increase in orders, users, and Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV).Meolaa’s curated collection spans six categories, featuring over 125,000 sustainable products. The startup’s commitment to providing eco-friendly alternatives aligns with the growing demand for conscious consumer choices.With the infusion of fresh capital, Meolaa is poised to further solidify its position in the market, not only as a provider of sustainable products but also as a key player in the e-commerce landscape. As Meolaa sets its sights on the future, industry observers anticipate continued momentum in the company’s growth trajectory, with the potential for further innovations and contributions to the evolving landscape of sustainable e-commerce.
