Kabeer Biswas, the co-founder of Dunzo, has joined Flipkart to lead its quick commerce division, Minutes. This move comes after months of discussions between Biswas and Flipkart, with sources confirming his departure from the struggling logistics firm.
Biswas, who has been navigating Dunzo’s financial challenges, including difficulty raising capital to sustain operations, will start his new role at Flipkart on January 13. His exit marks a significant shift for Dunzo, which is backed by Reliance Retail but has struggled with cash burn and operational hurdles. Biswas will collaborate closely with Flipkart’s senior vice president, Hemant Badri, to drive the growth of Flipkart Minutes, the company’s quick commerce initiative.
The decision follows a period of negotiations between Biswas and Flipkart, which explored acquiring Dunzo. Additionally, other former Dunzo executives, such as co-founder Ankur Agarwal, are also venturing into the quick commerce space and are reportedly in talks to raise funds from investors.
