Jasmeet Singh Bindra, an officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) from the 1997 batch, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA). The appointment is for a period of five years, commencing from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways issued the appointment order on 13 May 2026, underlining Bindra’s new role in accordance with the Major Port Authorities Act, 2021. The order specifies that Bindra will hold the position at the Joint Secretary level, with a pay scale ranging from ₹1,44,200 to ₹2,18,200 as per the pay matrix.
Bindra officially took over the charge as the Chairman of VPA on 20 May 2026, as confirmed by an email from the Visakhapatnam Port Authority dated 23 May 2026. This marks a significant leadership change at the port, which plays a crucial role in maritime trade and logistics in the region.
