Western Carriers bags contract worth Rs 1,089 crore from Vedanta for logistics services

Western Carriers recently informed exchanges that the company secured a significant logistics contract from Vedanta Limited for a period of four years. The contract, valued at approximately ₹1,089 crores, encompasses a range of logistics services, including railway transportation, customs house agent (CHA) services, and other essential operations.

As a leading player in the logistics sector, Western Carriers will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless transportation of goods for Vedanta, a major Indian multinational engaged in mining and resource production. This collaboration highlights the company’s expertise in managing large-scale supply chain operations within India.

The contract signifies Vedanta’s trust in Western Carriers’ capabilities, further strengthening the company’s position in the logistics industry. With an extensive network and experience in handling complex logistics solutions, Western Carriers is well-equipped to execute the project efficiently over the next four years.

In the meantime, on January 30, the company secured a major transportation contract from Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) worth approximately ₹170 crores. This four-year contract involves the movement of finished goods, including zinc and lead ingots, from HZL’s smelting complexes to key destinations across India. The transportation will cover domestic and export shipments from Rajasthan’s Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter, Zinc Smelter Debari, and Dariba Smelting Complex, as well as the Pantnagar Metal Plant in Uttarakhand. Deliveries will be made to major ports like Mundra, Pipavav, and Mumbai, along with HZL depots and customer sites.
