Tejas Networks announced that it has started shipping its advanced IP-MPLS Routers and Management System for the BharatNet Phase III project. The company is partnering with NCC, a leading industrial conglomerate, to modernize broadband infrastructure across Madhya Pradesh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, and Uttarakhand.
Under this initiative, Tejas Networks and NCC aim to upgrade the existing middle-mile broadband network from a linear to a ring topology, covering over 30,841 Gram Panchayats (GPs) and 411 block locations using cutting-edge IP-MPLS technology.
BharatNet, a flagship initiative of the Government of India funded by the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN), seeks to bring high-speed broadband connectivity to every village in India. The project aims to empower rural communities, bridge the digital divide, and support online education, telemedicine, and e-governance services in remote areas. The upgraded network infrastructure will serve as a national digital asset, available to all service providers on a non-discriminatory basis.
Manoj Penmetcha, Director (Projects) at NCC, highlighted the importance of this development, saying, “The creation of a robust, reliable, and scalable middle-mile network for BharatNet is critical to ensuring high-quality broadband access for every rural citizen. With Tejas Networks’ proven expertise in designing and executing mission-critical telecom networks in India and abroad, they are the ideal technology partner for this project.”
