Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled an ambitious manufacturing expansion plan in Maharashtra, announcing the development of its largest integrated automobile and tractor manufacturing facility in Nagpur. The announcement was made at Advantage Vidarbha, a flagship three-day event aimed at showcasing Vidarbha as a fast-emerging industrial growth hub on India’s manufacturing landscape.
The proposed state-of-the-art facility will be spread across 1,500 acres in Vidarbha, along with a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar, significantly strengthening Mahindra’s long-term growth strategy. Once fully operational, the Nagpur plant will have an annual production capacity of over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors, making it the largest integrated manufacturing footprint for Mahindra in India.
Vidarbha’s strategic location played a key role in the decision, supported by seamless road connectivity via the Samruddhi Expressway, strong rail infrastructure, proximity to major domestic and export markets, and a rapidly evolving industrial ecosystem. The supplier park at Sambhajinagar is expected to enhance logistics efficiency, deepen localisation, and enable closer collaboration with manufacturing partners. It will also supply components to Mahindra’s existing plants in Chakan and Nashik, strengthening the overall value chain.
The new automotive facility will support Mahindra Auto’s next-generation platforms, including the advanced NU_IQ architecture, and will be capable of producing vehicles across multiple powertrains such as ICE, EV, and future mobility technologies. Designed with advanced automation and digital manufacturing systems, the plant reflects Mahindra’s continued focus on innovation, quality, and sustainability for both domestic and global markets.
In parallel, the integrated tractor manufacturing unit will further reinforce Mahindra’s leadership position in the farm equipment sector, catering to rising domestic demand and key export markets. The expansion aligns with the company’s long-term vision of strengthening India’s agricultural and rural mobility ecosystem.
Additionally, Mahindra plans to acquire land in the Igatpuri–Nashik region to expand existing product lines and engine capacities, while also supporting the growth of its Advanced Technology business.
With these initiatives, Mahindra has committed a total investment of ₹15,000 crore over a 10-year period in Maharashtra, along with the acquisition of over 2,000 acres across three strategic locations. The move marks a major milestone in Mahindra’s manufacturing journey and underscores Maharashtra’s growing importance as a key automotive and industrial powerhouse in India.
