SJVN Limited has achieved a significant milestone with the successful synchronization of the first unit (660 MW) of its 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project (BTPP) with the National Grid today. This important step marks the beginning of the process to make the unit fully operational.
Bhupender Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN, expressed his pride in the achievement, saying it reflects the dedication and tireless efforts of the entire project team and all stakeholders. He added that the project will play a crucial role in meeting the growing energy needs of the country while supporting economic growth in Bihar.
Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel) at SJVN, noted that this synchronization will strengthen the company’s overall energy generation capacity and diversify its energy portfolio.
The Buxar Thermal Power Project, located in Chausa, Buxar district, is a 2×660 MW project implemented by SJVN Thermal Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN. It uses advanced supercritical technology, which not only improves efficiency but also reduces environmental impact. With an investment of ₹13,756.56 crore, the project is expected to generate nearly 9,829 million units of electricity every year, with 85% of the power being supplied to Bihar.
